Choosing a Pi Coin exchange is not a fee comparison. It is an evidence problem: you have to establish whether the venue can move real Pi at all. On 27 July 2026, CoinCodex tracked 22 exchanges and 32 pairs for PI. We queried those exchanges' own public REST endpoints — the same configuration that drives their live withdrawal screens — and found exactly five with a working two-way native Pi rail: Kraken, OKX, Bitget, Gate and LBank.
Everything else is a PI symbol with no on-chain path, a market tagged as an IOU, or no listing at all behind a price page readers mistake for one. The table is what people come for; the reusable part is the test below, because listings change and the test does not.
What "listed" actually means for Pi
"Listed" collapses three capabilities that Pi's market keeps apart: a tradable order book, a working deposit rail, and a working withdrawal rail. Most assets have all three or none. Pi routinely has one without the others.
It is confusing here because two assets share the ticker PI. CoinGecko keeps pi-network for the real coin and pi-network-iou for synthetic exchange claims in separate market tables, and nothing on a trading screen tells them apart. On 27 July 2026 even the prices matched: $0.08184 native against $0.08191 for the IOU. That convergence is recent and it did not hold before the mainnet opened.
Derivatives are a fourth trap: BingX has run a PI-USDT perpetual since 27 February 2025 and Toobit runs one too, but neither operates a PI wallet, so you can hold the price without ever holding the coin.
The three-question test for any Pi Coin exchange
Run these before funding an account. They answer what the marketing will not.
Can you withdraw native PI to a G-address you control?
Open the PI withdrawal screen before you deposit. A native market accepts a 56-character Pi address beginning with G. If withdrawals are disabled, "coming soon" or TBD, you are buying a ledger entry.
Is there a memo or tag field?
Pi inherits Stellar's account model, so exchanges pool deposits behind one address and route them with a memo. Gate sets is_tag: 1, XT.COM isNeedMemo: 1, Kraken requires one for G…. A synthetic market has nothing to route.
Is the venue on Pi's official KYB list?
Pi publishes its verified businesses at minepi.com/kyb-list and says only KYB-verified businesses can hold Pi Mainnet wallets. Absence is not proof of fraud, but it correlates with dead rails.
Question two is directional: LBank has a working rail and reports hasMemo: false, and OKX issues muxed M… addresses instead. Treat a memo field as confirmation, its absence as a prompt to look harder. Question one is the verdict.
Pi Network's official position, and the KYB list
Pi's stance predates its own market. In an announcement dated 29 December 2022 and a blog post on 6 January 2023, Pi Network said those listed tokens were "not the real Pi tokens", that it had "no association" with the exchanges, and that they acted "without the consent, authority, or involvement of the network." Labelling an IOU as the native Pi token was, in Pi's words, a violation of network policy.
After the Open Network launched on 20 February 2025 the position became gatekeeping: "only KYB verified businesses will be able to have Pi Wallets on the Pi Mainnet", and Pioneers are told to avoid services not on the KYB page.
Pi's KYB-verified list, as of our last check
- Exchanges (7)
- Kraken, OKX, Bitget, Gate.io, Pionex, MEXC, LBank. Note that Pionex appears on CoinGecko's IOU side, so KYB verification here does not imply a native market.
- On/off-ramps
- Onramp.money, Onramper, Banxa.
- What it certifies
- The business passed Pi's Know Your Business checks and may hold a Pi Mainnet wallet: a compliance signal.
- What it does not
- Liquidity, depth, solvency or regional availability. Kraken is verified and trades roughly $11,500 a day.
Pi's KYB list names seven exchanges, but one of them, Pionex, appears on CoinGecko's IOU side rather than its native-PI side. At most six of the eighteen venues CoinGecko tracks for native PI are therefore KYB-verified. Note the denominator: eighteen is CoinGecko's native-PI count, not the 22 exchanges CoinCodex counts, so treat anyone quoting “seven of 22” with suspicion. Either way, most PI volume flows through venues Pi has not checked. The list is still useful as inference where our own API checks came up short: Gate.io and LBank being KYB-verified is decent evidence they can custody native Pi, which is consistent with the two-way rails we did confirm on both. Pionex is the exception that proves the limit of the method — KYB-verified, yet trading on the IOU side, so verification alone never establishes a native market.
The venue-by-venue audit
Every significant venue quoting PI on 27 July 2026 — including those with an order book but no on-chain rail, which is exactly the distinction this table exists to expose. The deposit and withdrawal column comes from each exchange's own API, not its marketing. Where we could not confirm a value the cell says so.
| Venue | Native spot | Confirmed pairs | Deposit / withdrawal | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OKX | Yes | PI/USDT, PI/USD, PI/USDC, PI/EUR, PI/TRY, PI/BRL | Both open | Deposits 12 Feb 2025, spot 20 Feb, withdrawals 21 Feb. Reports of US access from 21 May 2026 are contradicted by OKX’s own US page (“may support Pi Network in the future”) — treat US availability as unresolved. ≈$2.2m/24h. KYB-verified. |
| Kraken | Yes | PI/USD, PI/EUR | Both open | Listed 13 Mar 2026, first US-regulated venue. ≈$11,500/24h combined. Minimum order 40 PI. Geographic restrictions unspecified. KYB-verified. |
| MEXC | Yes | PI/USDT, PI/USDC, PI/USDE, PI/USD1 | Opened 22 Feb 2025; current status not confirmed | Its February 2025 notice announced both rails and cited Pi's mainnet explorer, but we could not confirm the rail is still live, so we exclude MEXC from the five verified two-way rails. Zero fees on PI/USDT for 30 days. ≈$305k/24h. KYB-verified. |
| Bitget | Yes | PI/USDT | Both open | Listed 20 Feb 2025. Deposits need 20 confirmations. API reports no memo; its own wiki disagrees. ≈$583k/24h. KYB-verified. |
| Gate | Yes | PI/USDT | Both open, delay flag set | ≈$700k/24h. Memo required. Withdrawal fee sits behind an authenticated endpoint. KYB-verified. |
| BitMart | Market only | PI/USDT | Both disabled | Largest single PI market, ≈$3.09m/24h or 25–39% of tracked volume, on a rail never switched on; its PI notice still reads TBD. Not KYB-verified. Trading ends 26 Aug 2026, operations cease 31 Jan 2027. |
| LBank | Yes | PI/USDT | Both open | ≈$394k/24h. Withdrawal fee 1 PI, minimum 1 PI, no memo. KYB-verified. |
| XT.COM | Withdrawal only | PI/USDT | Deposit off Withdrawal on | ≈$232k/24h. Fee 12.2 PI, minimum 1,000 PI — the harshest found. Memo required. Also runs a PI-NETWORK-IOU listing and three unaffiliated wrapped PI chains. |
| CoinW | Market only | PI/USDT | Both disabled | ≈$603k/24h, about 7% of CoinGecko's tracked volume, no way in or out on chain. Three confusable assets: the real PI(PINETWORK) plus two legacy PCHAIN entries. |
| DigiFinex | Market only | PI/USDT | Both disabled | ≈$165k/24h. A 2 PI withdrawal fee is published but the rail is inactive — the stale configuration that misleads comparison sites. |
| HTX | Market only | PI/USDT | None configured | The clearest case of a market that never became native: its API still exposes a tradable piusdt symbol with an empty chain list, left over from the PI IOU it force-converted at 1 PI = 61.28 USDT on 13 February 2025. It promised to relist native PI; seventeen months on, its own API says that never happened. Not KYB-verified. |
| WEEX · Coinstore | Market only | PI/USDT | None configured | Both quote PI with no working on-chain rail, so balances there are exchange claims rather than blockchain assets. CoinGecko classifies WEEX on the IOU side. Neither is KYB-verified. |
| BTCC | Listed | PI/USDT | Not confirmed | ≈$131k/24h, inside CoinGecko's top ten PI markets, but no primary confirmation of rail status either way. |
Read down the deposit column and the shape appears: BitMart, CoinW, DigiFinex and XT.COM's deposit side cannot accept native Pi from your wallet, yet between them they carry a large share of reported volume. Plenty of articles name HTX, BitMart, Bybit and KuCoin as places to "cash out Pi" — HTX's tradable symbol is merely the shell of its force-converted IOU, with no chain configured. Per their own APIs, native Pi cannot move into or out of any of them.
Affiliate disclosure: the two buttons above open a third-party exchange in a new tab and are tagged nofollow sponsored. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is not the official Pi Network app, the official Pi Wallet, or an endorsement — and the PI instrument sold there is an IOU, not native mainnet Pi. Nothing here is financial advice.
The IOU side of the ticker
CoinGecko's separate pi-network-iou asset had five markets on 27 July 2026, and the concentration is extreme. Hotcoin alone traded $2,655,263 — about 97% of IOU volume — followed by Pionex at $39,371, Biconomy at $37,673, WEEX at $4,906 and Giottus at $134 on a PI/INR pair aimed at Indian buyers. That last figure is the whole daily turnover of the only rupee-quoted PI market we found.
Two tags deserve scepticism: Pionex is on Pi's KYB list, which implies native custody, and Giottus's own API reports PI/INR as type SPOT. WEEX corroborates its IOU tag exactly — an empty chain list and a notice still reading "Deposit: tbd / Withdrawal: tbd".
The warning that proves the point
CoinGecko's IOU page still warns that "the mainnet has not yet been launched." It launched on 20 February 2025. That notice has been wrong for seventeen months on a tier-one aggregator — useful calibration for Pi data generally. OKX's own FAQ claims PI "isn't available to buy or trade on crypto exchanges" on a page listing six live PI pairs.
The prices only converged once a real reference existed. HTX ran a PI IOU from 29 December 2022 and force-converted every holder on 13 February 2025 at 1 PI = 61.28 USDT. Seven days later real PI opened near $1.47 and peaked around $2.99. The IOU had traded at roughly 42 times the launch price and 20 times Pi's eventual all-time high, and holders were closed out at a number they did not choose. With withdrawals shut, no arbitrage channel could pin it to reality.
Who does not list Pi, and why that matters more
Binance returned zero PI symbols out of 3,659 — despite a community vote-to-list from 17 to 27 February 2025 that passed with roughly 86% support. Sources disagree on the count: CoinMarketCap Academy reports about 86% on nearly 295,000 votes, crypto.news 86.8% of around 226,000. Binance never acted. Reported blockers were closed source code, limited audit visibility and compliance — explicitly not weak demand. PI fell about 20% to roughly $2.15 as the poll closed, because approval turned out to mean nothing.
Coinbase returned zero PI products out of 831 and NotFound for PI-USD: no listing, no pipeline, US regulatory uncertainty cited as the constraint, asset page titled "Pi [IOU]". Bybit has no PI instruments at all — CEO Ben Zhou publicly declined in February 2025 in harsh terms, calling the project a scam and citing a 2023 Chinese police warning Pi's team refuted. KuCoin is bluntest: a currency lookup returns {"msg":"PI currency does not exist."}. Robinhood does not carry PI. For Upbit and Bithumb we found no evidence of a listing — lean no, not confirmed.
Crypto.com is genuinely mixed and we will not resolve it. Its exchange API returned zero PI instruments out of 909, settling the professional venue. But its consumer price pages still render a generic "Buy PI" widget, and one result suggests PI may be swappable via Onchain — which, given Pi has no EVM presence, would route to an unaffiliated token of the same name.
A price page is not a market
Binance, Coinbase, Bybit, Crypto.com, Phemex and Bitget all host PI or "Pi [IOU]" price pages while trading no PI at all — Bitget's /price/pi is explicitly labelled "Not listed". They rank well and carry live-looking charts and buy buttons. If you cannot find the pair in the venue's real trading interface, there is no market. Impostor tokens are covered on our Pi Coin trading platforms page.
Case study: the delisting rumour that was false
In late August 2025, claims circulated that OKX would suspend PI margin borrowing and fully delist PI by 27 or 28 August, with MEXC following. It was debunked and no pairs were removed; eleven months later OKX's endpoint still returned six live PI spot pairs and MEXC four. One outlet nonetheless published the delisting as fact, and that article is still findable.
- Check the exchange's own announcement page. Real delistings appear there first, dated, weeks ahead.
- Query the pair. A delisted symbol vanishes from the public instruments endpoint. If it returns as live, it is trading.
- Separate the action from the headline. Suspending margin borrowing, cutting leverage or moving a pair to an innovation zone are routine; none is a delisting.
- Compare against a real notice. HTX's 2025 conversion notice named the exact date, time and rate. One outlet with no primary link is a rumour.
Liquidity concentration is a risk in itself
Even with a working rail there is a second problem. On 27 July 2026 total 24-hour volume ranged from $7.88m (CoinMarketCap) to $12.29m (CoinCodex) against a market capitalisation near $896m — a volume-to-cap ratio of roughly 0.9–1.4%. Large holders cannot exit near screen price.
What has improved
- Documented two-way native rails at five venues, up from none before February 2025.
- Kraken publishes a full PI funding schedule. No other exchange does.
- OKX quotes six currencies including TRY and BRL. Its US availability is unresolved — see the caveat in the audit table.
- Prices agreed within 0.3% across seven venues at one timestamp: thin, not fragmented.
What has not
- BitMart carried 25–39% of volume with no rail, no KYB verification and a shutdown scheduled.
- Kraken's pairs are about 0.1% of PI volume: the credible venues carry almost none.
- Nearly every market is quoted in USDT; direct fiat access is a handful of pairs.
- No on-chain venue exists: Pi mainnet has recorded zero liquidity pools and zero DEX trades.
The tier-one additions brought legitimacy without liquidity; the liquidity sits on offshore venues Pi has not verified. Re-baseline any volume figure after 26 August 2026. Our Pi Coin price page tracks those aggregates.
Fees and withdrawal mechanics
The network fee is trivial; the exchange fee usually is not. Read off Pi's mainnet ledger header, the base fee is 100,000 stroops — 0.01 π — charged per operation, not per transaction: a sampled twenty-operation transaction paid exactly 0.2 π. The base reserve is 0.49 π, so by Stellar's formula an account must hold at least 0.98 π.
| Venue | Withdrawal fee | Minimum | Memo required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kraken | 3 PI | 10 PI | Yes for G…, no for M… |
| Kraken (deposit) | 0 PI | 20 PI | Yes |
| Bitget | 0.04 PI | ≈123.8 PI | API says no; wiki disagrees |
| LBank | 1 PI | 1 PI | No |
| XT.COM | 12.2 PI | 1,000 PI | Yes |
| OKX | Not published; fees "dynamically adjusted" | Not confirmed | No; issues muxed M… addresses |
| Gate | Not confirmed, authenticated endpoint only | Not confirmed | Yes |
| MEXC | Not confirmed; declines per-coin figures | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
Two traps. Several third-party PI fee tables reproduce numbers that are really USDT fees mislabelled by an aggregator, and two figures circulate with no first-party support: Bitrue's 0.001 PI and a widely repeated 0.1 PI for Pionex. Neither is usable. Second, XT.COM's withdrawal dropdown exposes three wrapped PI chains beside the real one — XT Smart Chain, BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum, at 12.24, 6.1 and 86 PI. Only the chain named PI is native.
Wrong network means gone, not delayed
Kraken's own PI notice states that deposits made using other networks will be lost. Pi is not an EVM chain, has no contract address, and its network passphrase differs from Stellar's — an Ethereum or Stellar address can never receive Pi, and no support ticket recovers it.
Every transfer: confirm the network is Pi mainnet, confirm the address starts with G and runs 56 characters, and paste the memo if the venue asks for one. A correct address with a missing memo can leave a deposit uncredited even though the coins arrived. Our Pi Coin wallet guide shows where to find both; how to buy and sell Pi Coin covers the round trip.
Verdict, framed by what you are trying to do
There is no single best Pi Coin exchange: the venues safest to hold funds at are not where the volume is. Pick by task.
Most documented rail: Kraken — the only venue publishing complete native PI fees, minimums and memo rules on its own site, US-regulated and KYB-verified. Its book is roughly $11,500 a day: small careful transfers, not selling size.
Depth and quote choice: OKX — deepest native book, six quote currencies, rails open since February 2025 — with the caveats that its withdrawal fee is published nowhere and its US availability is unresolved — OKX’s own US page says it “may support Pi Network in the future”.
In the EU: OKX's European entity is named in Pi's own MiCA white paper as the initial admission-to-trading platform, and Kraken quotes PI/EUR directly. Bitpanda prices PI in twelve currencies under an Austrian FMA licence, read from its own public ticker; its deposit and withdrawal rails are unconfirmed.
What we will not tell you: whether to buy. Pi's own MiCA white paper states the asset "may lose its value in part or in full, may not always be transferable and may not be liquid." That is the issuer's language, and on the evidence above it is accurate on all three counts.
Re-run the three-question test before funding whichever venue you pick. Rails get switched off without announcements, minimums float with the dollar, and one of the largest markets above closes within a month of this page's date stamp. For access routes by country, see where to buy Pi Coin.
Frequently asked questions
Which Pi Coin exchanges actually let me withdraw native PI?
On 27 July 2026, checking each exchange's own public API, five venues had a working two-way native Pi rail: Kraken, OKX, Bitget, Gate and LBank. XT.COM allowed withdrawals but not deposits. HTX, BitMart, DigiFinex, CoinW, WEEX and Coinstore all had a tradable PI symbol with no functioning on-chain rail, which makes those balances exchange claims rather than blockchain assets. HTX is the starkest case: its API still exposes piusdt with an empty chain list, left over from the IOU it force-converted in February 2025, so it never became a native market at all.
Is Pi Coin listed on Binance?
No. Binance's public exchange info returned zero PI symbols out of 3,659 on 27 July 2026. Binance ran a community vote-to-list from 17 to 27 February 2025 that passed with roughly 86% support — reported vote counts range from about 226,000 to 295,000 — and then never acted on it. Reported blockers were closed source code, limited audit visibility and compliance, not lack of demand.
How do I tell a native PI market from a PI IOU?
Ignore the ticker, which is identical on both. Open the venue's PI withdrawal screen. If it accepts a Pi mainnet address beginning with G and offers a memo field, the market is native. If withdrawals are greyed out, marked "TBD", or the asset appears under a separate "PI IOU" entry, you are buying a claim against that exchange that will never touch the Pi blockchain.
Did OKX delist Pi Coin in August 2025?
No. In late August 2025 a rumour circulated that OKX would suspend PI margin borrowing and fully delist PI by 27 or 28 August, with MEXC following. It was false and no pairs were removed. At least one outlet nonetheless published the delisting as fact. OKX's own API still listed six live PI spot pairs on 27 July 2026.
Does Kraken support Pi deposits and withdrawals?
Yes, and Kraken is the only exchange publishing a complete native PI funding schedule on its own site. Deposits are free with a 20 PI minimum; withdrawals cost 3 PI with a 10 PI minimum; the minimum order size on PI/USD and PI/EUR is 40 PI. Kraken's notice also states that deposits made using other networks will be lost.
What does it cost to move PI on the Pi blockchain itself?
Read directly off Pi's mainnet ledger header, the base fee is 100,000 stroops, which is 0.01 π. That is charged per operation, not per transaction: a sampled twenty-operation transaction was charged exactly 0.2 π. Exchange withdrawal fees are set separately by each venue and are usually far higher than the network fee itself.
Is Pi Coin available on Coinbase or Crypto.com?
Coinbase returned zero PI products out of 831, and a direct query for PI-USD returned NotFound. Its asset page is titled "Pi [IOU]", which is informational only. Crypto.com's exchange API returned zero PI instruments out of 909, yet its consumer price page still renders a generic "Buy PI" widget. We treat the consumer side as unresolved rather than claiming either answer.
Why does BitMart show the largest PI volume if you cannot withdraw from it?
Because volume and withdrawability are unrelated. BitMart carried roughly 25–39% of tracked PI volume while its own API reported deposits disabled, and its PI support notice still showed deposit and withdrawal status as TBD. BitMart is also winding down: deposits stopped 26 July 2026, trading ends 26 August 2026 and operations cease 31 January 2027.
