Pi Network app download: which of the three apps you actually need

There is no single Pi app. There are three, they do different jobs, and the wallet is not in the one most people assume. Here are the official store IDs and package names, and why every "Pi Network APK" result is a bad idea.

Search for a Pi Network app download and you will be offered at least four different things, two of which will hurt you. Not because the software is obscure — Pi claims more than 60 million engaged members — but because the ecosystem ships several apps with confusingly similar names, and a keyword with that much traffic attracts people who repackage installers for a living.

In principle this is simple: install two apps from your platform's official store, verify the numeric identifier, touch nothing else. In practice every step has a failure mode. The wallet is not where people look for it. The desktop story is misdescribed on Pi's own website. And the most-searched variant of this query — "Pi Network APK" — leads almost exclusively somewhere you should not go.

There is no single "Pi app" — there are three

Getting this wrong wastes weeks. Pi splits its functions across separate programs, and the one everybody calls "the Pi app" does the least.

01 / MOBILE

Pi Network — the mining app

The daily check-in app. Tap the lightning button roughly every 24 hours to confirm you are a distinct human being and accrue a share of scheduled issuance. It holds your mobile balance, Security Circle and Mainnet Checklist — not the wallet.

02 / MOBILE

Pi Browser — the gateway

A separate app, and the one that matters most. Pi calls it the gateway to its Web3 ecosystem: it hosts the non-custodial Pi Wallet, the Pi KYC app, Pi Chats and the directory of third-party Pi apps. Guides that say "open your wallet" mean here.

03 / DESKTOP

Pi Node — consensus software

Desktop software derived from stellar-core that participates in consensus. Distributed from Pi's own site and GitHub releases, never an app store. Not a miner and not a wallet — its v0.5.4 release note lists the Node, mining app and Pi App Studio, no wallet.

So: with only the mining app installed you cannot touch your balance, because KYC and the wallet both live in Pi Browser. Any standalone "Pi Wallet" app is fake by construction, as our Pi Coin wallet guide sets out.

The official identifiers, and how to check what you installed

A safe Pi Network app download comes down to this step, which most guides skip. Both official apps have fixed identifiers published by Pi.

Official Pi app identifiers, as published by Pi Network

Pi Network (mining app) — iOS
App Store ID 1445472541, so the store URL ends id1445472541.
Pi Network (mining app) — Android
Package com.blockchainvault. Note it does not contain the word "pi" — clones exploit that.
Pi Browser — iOS
App Store ID 1560911608, so the URL ends id1560911608.
Pi Browser — Android
Package pi.browser.
Operator
SocialChain, Inc. — the Delaware company Pi's MiCA white paper names as the operator that "developed the app and launched the token model", and which Pi's Pi Browser page credits with maintaining the browser.

Checking the package name on Android

The package name is an app's fingerprint: immutable and unique across Google Play.

  • Before installing: read the address bar of the Play listing. The query string is the package name — ?id=com.blockchainvault or ?id=pi.browser. In the Play app, use Share → Copy link. Anything else there is a different app, whatever the icon looks like.
  • After installing: Settings → Apps → the app-info screen shows the package name on most builds, and often the install source. You want "installed from Google Play Store".
  • Cross-check the developer: the same publisher should list both Pi apps. A clone that copied one will not credibly have both.

Checking the developer and ID on iOS

On the App Store the numeric ID is the anchor: confirm the listing URL ends id1445472541 or id1560911608, read the Seller field, then tap the developer name to see their other apps.

Where the honest limit of this check sits

We did not scrape the live store listings, so we will not give you a seller string to match character for character. Treat the publisher name as a consistency test and the ID and package name as the hard test.

Pi Coin app download on iOS — one legitimate channel

On iPhone and iPad there is exactly one legitimate distribution channel: the Apple App Store. Not TestFlight. Not an enterprise profile. Not a configuration profile sent to you on Telegram.

The flow is unremarkable: install Pi Network from the App Store, then Pi Browser. Register with a phone number, or a Facebook or email login, and set a password.

Where new users stall is the invitation code. Pi's site states an invitation is required to join, and registration will not complete without a valid code from an existing Pioneer. Nobody should charge you for one — Pi's February 2025 safety notice says any activity charging money for Pi is invalid. The code seeds the trust graph: your inviter gains a Referral Team member, credited at 25% of the base rate.

If iOS asks you to trust a profile, stop

A prompt to install a configuration profile, trust an enterprise developer, or join a TestFlight build for "the new Pi wallet" is an attack, not an upgrade. Enterprise profiles grant persistent device privileges and are a known route for wallet-draining apps.

Installing on Android — Google Play or nothing

Same principle, more exposure. Android permits installation from arbitrary sources — useful for developers, dangerous for anyone keeping a non-recoverable key on the same device.

Install the mining app from its Google Play listing and confirm the URL reads id=com.blockchainvault, then install Pi Browser and confirm id=pi.browser. Leave Play Protect enabled, and leave "install unknown apps" switched off for your browser and messaging apps. That toggle is the single setting separating a curious tap from a drained wallet.

Neither link is an affiliate link. They are the publisher's own listings, which is exactly why they are the only ones we will publish.

Affiliate disclosure: the two buttons above open a third-party exchange in a new tab and are tagged nofollow sponsored. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is not the official Pi Network app, the official Pi Wallet, or an endorsement — and the PI instrument sold there is an IOU, not native mainnet Pi. Nothing here is financial advice.

The "Pi Network APK" question, answered honestly

Much of this topic's traffic wants an APK rather than a store listing — Google Play is unavailable locally, or a video promised the APK mines faster. We will not host, mirror or link one, and we are not going to soften why.

Why a third-party Pi APK is a bad trade at any download speed

A repackaged app can rewrite the screen you type your passphrase into. An attacker takes the real installer, modifies the interface and re-signs it; the clone behaves normally until it captures a passphrase and forwards it. That risk sits in Pi Browser, because that is where the wallet lives.

You cannot verify a signature you have nothing to compare against. Pi publishes no APK checksum or signing-certificate fingerprint, so "verify the file" has no procedure behind it. Google Play checks publisher signing keys for you — that is the service you would give up.

You lose automatic updates. A sideloaded build freezes at whatever the mirror uploaded. Pi ships security-relevant changes — wallet 2FA, the suspension of payment requests after the December 2025 drain — and a stale build gets none.

The payoff for the attacker is total. A Pi passphrase is generated on your device and, per Pi's documentation, never reaches Pi's servers. No reset, no recovery email, no support desk — one capture is permanent.

And there is nothing to gain. The mining app is a daily check-in with no device requirements that sideloading would solve. No faster build, no unlocked version, no higher rate — the rate is a network-wide variable the installer cannot touch.

The closest documented analogue is instructive. In June 2025 Bitdefender Labs traced a Facebook ad campaign of 140-plus creative variations with two payloads: a fake Pi Wallet portal demanding a 24-word recovery phrase to "claim 628 Pi", and a fake "free Pi mining" PC installer promising a 31.4 PI bonus while carrying multi-stage malware.

Pi Network desktop: what really exists, and where the official page is wrong

There is no official Pi desktop mining application. That is the most useful sentence on this page for anyone searching "Pi Network desktop", because a great many guides imply otherwise.

What exists is Pi Node — desktop software derived from stellar-core that validates the blockchain and reaches consensus using Pi's fork of the Stellar Consensus Protocol. Pi describes three tiers: Computer App, then Node, then SuperNode, which Pi says forms the network's backbone and needs 24/7 connectivity. Node operation is a real reward category, keyed in the mainnet formula to uptime, port connectivity and CPU — but it will not replace the mobile check-in.

Scale, in Pi's own numbers: 400,000-plus active nodes across Testnet1, Testnet2 and Mainnet in June 2025, and 420,000-plus node operators at Pi2Day in June 2026. A Linux CLI node was released on 25 August 2025. Releases come from Pi's node site and GitHub, not app stores.

Pi's own node page is stale — read it with that in mind

minepi.com/pi-node/ still carries the Enclosed-Network firewall disclaimer as current, though the firewall was removed at the Open Network launch on 20 February 2025. It still says Testnet Nodes get no mining rewards, which later node-reward announcements contradict. And the version shown — 0.6.0 — is a different numbering scheme from the node and protocol versions in the blog posts (19.6, 19.9, 20.2, protocol 25 on 22 July 2026).

The newest development is SoloHost, announced at Pi2Day 2026: a framework for running apps on Pi Desktop, including local AI agents and distributed compute. Its reference implementation is Hermes, an open-source local AI agent. Still not a miner.

Node hosting services are a documented attack surface

Pi's own account-safety page warns about fraudulent node-hosting and VPN services that request login credentials, and notes that whoever holds them can alter wallet addresses and Security Circles. Run a node on hardware you control.

What each app can and cannot do

The wallet lives in Pi Browser, not the mining app. Remember that row if nothing else.

After installing: the sequence that actually happens

  1. Check in daily, and expect it to be dull

Open the mining app roughly every 24 hours and tap the lightning button. That is the whole activity. Miss a session and mining stops until you return. None of it taxes your phone, because Federated Byzantine Agreement does not use competing hash power.

  2. Build a Security Circle — up to five people

The whitepaper's reward term is 0.2 · min(Sc, 5) · B: each connection adds 20% of the base rate, capped at five, so a full circle doubles your rate and your referral rewards. Pi's FAQ restates it as +20% per circle member and +25% per active referral. A sixth contact adds nothing.

  3. Pass KYC in Pi Browser

Open the KYC app at kyc.pinet.com inside Pi Browser. It is hybrid: machine checks for document authenticity and liveness, then review by paid human validators from your own country. Pi built it in-house because no vendor covers the 230-plus countries where Pioneers live. It is free.

  4. Finish the Mainnet Checklist, including 2FA

Passing KYC alone moves nothing. The checklist includes wallet creation and, at step three, wallet two-factor authentication, which Pi made a requirement for second migrations. Note what 2FA does: it guards migration, not your keys. Nothing recovers a lost passphrase.

  5. Accept that the rate declines, and nobody publishes it

The base rate originally halved at each tenfold growth in network size — 3.1415926 π/hour, then 1.5707963, then 0.7853981. From March 2022 that gave way to a declining issuance formula tied to a monthly supply limit. Pi publishes no live figure, so any site quoting a precise π/hour number is guessing.

Only then can your balance move — and only then do our pages on buying and selling Pi Coin, exchanges that handle native PI and the price record apply to you.

Fake apps and impostors: the checklist

Pi's Safety Center sets the rule: if a source is not on its official list, it is not official even if it claims to be. Official web apps live on *.pinet.comwallet.pinet.com, kyc.pinet.com, chat.pinet.com — the explorer at blockexplorer.minepi.com, and official email at @pi.email, @picoreteam.org or @minepi.com. Pi's June 2025 wallet-safety post is blunt: never enter your passphrase anywhere that is not exactly wallet.pinet.com inside Pi Browser.

  • Clone mining apps. Same icon, different package. Hanoi's police cybersecurity division warned in March 2025 about fake Pi Network applications built to collect user data unlawfully.
  • "Pi mining booster" apps. There is no booster. The base rate is a network-wide variable; no installed app changes your share of it.
  • Anything requesting your passphrase. No legitimate app, exchange or support agent will ask. Pi states no Core Team member solicits authentication information or calls users individually.
  • Fake Pi Browser clones. The most dangerous category, because the wallet sits inside the real one. Pi says the genuine wallet shows a purple navigation bar with the Core Team apps logo.
  • Fraudulent apps inside the real ecosystem. Pi has removed dApps from its own directory, including "WorldBanksPi", which promoted a fictional $310,000-per-Pi valuation.
  • Pi-branded tokens with contract addresses. Pi has no EVM presence, so every "Pi" token with a contract — BEP-20 "Pi Network DeFi", Solana "Pi Network Dog" — is a different asset wearing the name.

One correction, because scam-app writing is often overstated. No security vendor report we could find names a specific fake Pi wallet app on Google Play or the App Store. Cyble's June 2025 write-up of 22 malicious Play Store phishing apps and Kaspersky's April 2026 "FakeWallet" research do not involve Pi at all.

  • Downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play, and nowhere else.
  • iOS URL ends id1445472541 or id1560911608.
  • Android package reads com.blockchainvault or pi.browser.
  • Both apps under one publisher, with a review history matching tens of millions of users.
  • Passphrase entered only at wallet.pinet.com inside Pi Browser.
  • "Install unknown apps" off on Android; no configuration profiles on iOS.

Verdict

VerdictTwo stores, two apps, zero APKs

Install the Pi Network mining app and Pi Browser from the Apple App Store or Google Play, verify 1445472541 / com.blockchainvault and 1560911608 / pi.browser, and treat every other download route as hostile. The wallet is in Pi Browser and its passphrase cannot be recovered by anyone — which is exactly why a sideloaded build is a disproportionate risk for no benefit. There is no desktop miner. And no site, including this one, can tell you your current mining rate, because Pi does not publish it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Pi Network desktop miner?

No. There is no official desktop mining application, and any site offering one is distributing something else. What exists for desktop is Pi Node — software derived from stellar-core that participates in consensus and earns a separate node-operation reward term in Pi's mining formula. The daily mining check-in itself happens in the mobile app. Bitdefender documented fake "free Pi mining" PC installers carrying multi-stage malware in June 2025.

Is a Pi Network APK safe to install?

No, and we will not link one. A repackaged APK can carry a modified interface that captures your wallet passphrase, and you have no publisher signature to compare it against. You also lose automatic security updates. Because a Pi passphrase cannot be reset by anyone, the payoff for an attacker is your entire mainnet balance. The only safe sources are the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Why do I need an invitation code to join Pi Network?

Because Pi's onboarding is invitation-gated by design — minepi.com states plainly that an invitation is required to join. The referral link doubles as the seed of the network's trust graph: your inviter's Referral Team grows, and the whitepaper credits active referral team members at 25% of the base rate each. Practically, you cannot complete registration without a valid code from an existing Pioneer.

Can I run the Pi Network app on an emulator like BlueStacks?

Pi does not publish a rule about emulators that we could locate, so treat any confident answer with suspicion. What is documented: Pi enforces one account per real person, and KYC includes a liveness check and document capture that expect a real camera. An emulator solves no device-requirement problem the app actually has, and any account consequence lands on you.

Is Pi mining free?

Yes, in the sense that matters: Pi's MiCA white paper states "There is no fee in mining Pi", the apps are free downloads, and there was no ICO. The consensus is Federated Byzantine Agreement, not proof of work, so your phone is not doing computational work. On-chain transactions later cost 0.01 π. Anyone charging you money to mine, boost or unlock Pi is running a scam.

Where is the Pi Wallet — the mining app or Pi Browser?

Pi Browser. The wallet is a web app at wallet.pinet.com reached inside Pi Browser, where you tap "Generate Wallet" and receive a passphrase created locally on the device. Open that address in Chrome or Safari and all you get is a prompt to download Pi Browser. There is no standalone Pi Wallet app in either store, and no hardware wallet supports Pi.

What mining rate will I get after installing?

Nobody outside the Core Team can tell you. The whitepaper's original schedule ran from 3.1415926 π/hour down through 1.5707963 and 0.7853981 at successive tenfold growth milestones, but from March 2022 those halvings were replaced by a declining monthly issuance formula, and Pi does not publish the live system-wide base rate anywhere official. Any site quoting a precise current π/hour figure is guessing.
